A crushing defeat for the Aussies

Australia were taken to pieces by India in the second test match. They were out played in all departments. The strong Aussie batting lineup failed to fire and the bowl lacked venom.

The Indian bowling on the other hand was a master class in subcontinent bowling. Tight lines, aggressive field placements and quality spin.

The aussies really have to dig themselves out of a hole if they are to salvage this series. I question whether they have the depth left at this point to recover. With Hayden's lack of form they really don't have the strength they used to at the top of the order. Apart from Ponting the middle order seems a little light on subcontinent experience.

Marks out of 10 for NZ tour squad

Cricinfo's marks for the England test squad on completing their first oversees series win in 3 years. Sidebottom is the only play who really stood out. Bell's century was a beautiful innings and show's the class that he is capable of. It remains to be seen if Strauss can convert his century into a run of good form for the summer.
